Cristina Loyo Varela

Cristina Loyo Varela serves as the General Director at the National Laboratory on Advanced Computer Science (LANIA). She graduated from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) with a degree in mathematics and holds a master’s and Ph.D. in applied mathematics from the Paris VI University.

A former professor and researcher at UNAM, she participated in scientific research and the development of specialized human resources. She has also been an active member of steering committees such as the Forum of Permanent Consult of Science and Technology of the Federal Executive, the Mexican Association of Executives of Applied Research and Technological Development (ADIAT) and the University Consortium for the Development of the Internet (CUDI).

Loyo also has contributed to formation of national and international academic groups such as LANIA, the Network of Informatics Development and Research of CONACYT (REDII), the Informatics French-Mexican Laboratory (LAFMI) and the Mexican Society of Computer Science (SMCC).
