Silvia Hernández, Vice-Chair


Silvia Hernández studied political science and administration at the National Autonomous University of Mexico and has master’s credits in public administration at the London School of Economics and Political Science.

Her career is marked by a record of notable achievements in national public service, international affairs and the private sector.

In her role as Secretary of Tourism under President Ernesto Zedillo, she designed and coordinated a tourism cabinet that led promotional efforts with outstanding results through increased foreign investment and foreign currency entering the country.

Over three terms as a Mexican Senator, Hernández established and presided over the Senate’s Competitiveness Committee, securing unparalleled consensus during a time that was fraught with political discord. Her achievements translated immediately into economic benefits for Mexico. She also served as Chairwoman of the Senate’s Committee of Foreign Affairs for North America.

She has been awarded the Indira Gandhi Prize, the Professional Merit Award as Minister of Tourism, and was named Woman of the Year by the Chamber of Commerce.

Presently, as Founding Partner of Estrategia Publica Consultores, she designs and directs successful strategies to achieve business objectives required in public decision-making.

In addition, Hernández is member of the Strategic Advisory Board of International Negotiations for the modernization of NAFTA, where she is coordinator of the Gender Equality and Energy Chapter and a member of the Energy Chapter.
